You’re a librarian and you want to know what your community is searching for locally? Here’s a simple, albeit a bit superficial, way to get a glimpse of what people are searching for locally (via)… Go to Google Maps and do a search on your town (ie “Town, State”) — in addition to the map, you’ll get a list of the “popular searches near this location.”
The image above shows what people are searching for where I live — Buffalo, NY. Ahhh… Pizza, bars and malls — I’m living in a vibrant and thriving place. Perfect for me. In Boston, on the other hand, a library makes it into the top ten…
