Any Libraries Hiring Community Organizers?

August 6, 2007 § Leave a comment

Marketing guru, Seth Godin, has an interesting post called Jobs of the future, #1: Online Community Organizer (and a follow up post here):

“It would help if that person understood technology, at least well enough to know what it could do. They would need to be able to write. But they also have to be able to seduce stragglers into joining the group in the first place, so they have to be able to understand a marketplace, do outbound selling and non-electronic communications.”

Sounds like a great non-traditional or alternative career for librarian types…  In fact, libraries that are really serious about building community may want to allocate resources toward these types of jobs — to help create online AND offline community.
