Library Street Views

August 17, 2007 § 1 Comment

Google Street Views is kind of a splashy sequined app of a time eater… perfect way to get a Friday morning going. So far, they’ve roamed around eight cities snapping this and that. It’s pretty easy to use, a brief stop at Google’s help video and page and you’re on your way.

There may be practical uses for it, but in the meantime let’s just snoop around. Here’s the San Francisco Public Library, zoom in to the sidewalk and see a woman petitioning (Help save the library?!). (via) And a few more: Oakland Public Library and San Diego Public Library (via) and the New York Public Library.

Here’s some info about the people taking the pictures, a picture of the Google van. If you find this to be a bit um disagreeably intimate, here’s Wired on the privacy issues.
